Replacing a broken pane, matching an existing mirror, or working out what a fitter left behind? Send us a photograph and we’ll tell you what it is and what it would cost to replace.
1. Your photographs
- A coin or tape measure resting against the edge, so we can judge thickness.
- The edge itself, close up: polished, bevelled, ground or raw tells us how it was made.
- Any stamp in a corner. Toughened glass carries a safety mark, and it names the manufacturer.
- Daylight rather than a flash, which hides tint and texture.
2. Anything you already know
What we can tell you
- Material and tint
- Approximate thickness
- Edge and corner finish
- Whether it’s toughened or laminated
- How it was fixed, and with what
What we can’t
- Exact dimensions. You’ll need to measure.
- The original manufacturer, unless it’s stamped
- Whether a structural piece still meets current regulations
